Balance and Contrast

Triptych
This triptych was taken outside of my house on hamilton st. The street is fairly dark but still has plenty of light, I thought that this would be perfect for my skateboard triptych. I edited the top image to have a yellowish tone to match the bottom two. The picture does not have spacing between the images to show a better transition.

Triptych
In this triptych I tried to show a transition from tree bark to brick. The middle image was the perfect transition because it had characteristics resembling both the bark and the brick. I flipped the first image horizontally so that the triptych has more flow.

Diptych
These are two images that I combined to show a diptych. The one on the left is not showing what is on the other side, while the one on the right clearly lets you see what is behind the fence. I tried to show that some places let you see what they really are while others try to keep things a secret, not revealing what is on the other side.

Contrast in Texture
This image has a contrast in texture, between the vertical bark of the tree, and the horizontal bricks. I did not make any color edits to this image, the colors have a natural sence of blending with one another. If you look at the middle of the photo you will see a line of contrast between the vertical tree and the horizontal brick.

Contrast in Scale
This Image shows a contrast in scale, the lego mini figure seems tiny in comparison to the Millennium Falcon. I chose to make the image black and white so that everything blends with one another, and no contrast in colors are revealed.

Contrast in Color
The individual red LEGO brick on the black LEGO background shows a contrast in color. When seeing this image, your eyes will immediately jump to the red LEGO brick, avoiding the surrounding black LEGO pieces. The surrounding bricks are also slightly faded, and red brick is clearer to see.

Kaleidoscope
This is a kaleidoscope of leaves. When you see the image your eyes will have a tendency of being naturally dragged into the middle of the kaleidoscope. There is also a sense of a rainbow because of the red, yellow, orange, green, and blue colors.

Kaleidoscope
This kaleidoscope was takes at the courtyard by chipotle, the original picture was of a plant growing on a metalic fence structure. Out of the four edits which I have made, this kaleidoscope appeared most interesting to me. If you look closely, the design resembles that of a butterfly.

Kaleidoscope
This is a kaleidoscope which I took at the beach. The image shows four edited and cropped pictures of the sky. The tones you see however where not edited, the way the sun illuminates the clouds is completely natural and no changes where made to the colors.

Pre Work: Project

Contrast in Color or Value
 fastcocreate.com
The contrast of black and white is shown in the picture above. There is contrast between the white geese in the dark water and the black clothes on the white snow. The contrast is also shown between the snow and the water with a boundary running down the middle.

Contrast in Texture

Symmetry
 magnumphotos.com
This picture illustrates symmetry. If you where to cut this picture in half down the line of symmetry, both sides would be a reflection of one another. The picture also illustrates contrast in size because of the small person standing at the end of the road.

Cold Mood Photo
This photo depicts a cold mood. The photo shows dark ice with a black background and a light shining beneath the ground. The melting water from the ice formed a river, appearing brighter than the ice itself. The aqua color of the ice and the piece balancing on top of the other three added more curiosity to the photo.

Monochrome Mood Photo
In this photo, I played with the idea of shadows and paperclips. Though the photo appears black and white, you can still see that the colors of the staples differ from one another. This photo shows contrast between the shadows and the actual clips. Some clips are shinny, others are light, and some dark but the shadows of the paperclips appear the same color.

Warm Mood Photo
This photo gives off a sense of warmth because of the bright colors of the flame. The dark background makes your eyes focus on the flame. The transfer from blue to bright yellow occurs very casually, seamlessly blending the colors. A circle of light between the middle and top of the flame adds to the mood.

Monochrome Grid
This is a monochrome tile photo of pigeons. The photo is considered a monochrome because of the overall black and white colors of the image. The photo portrays a confusing mood, some photos are tilted at different angles, some tiles repeating themselves more than once. This photo looks a bit vintage, and old. I tinted it with a brownish color to add to the surrealism.

Choice Grid
This is a photo of the same sunflower being altered four different ways. The photo has white lines between all frames adding a type of barrier between them. The frames seems to change the most in the middle of the sunflower, the majority of the colors being warm while the middle is cold offers a sort of color compliment.

Color Compliments Grid
This photo is considered a color compliment grid because of the cold and warm colors trying to blend. The blue frames make up a zig-zag pattern, and the red and yellow frames trying to go against the blue. This square grid would be a very cool textile material for making clothes. Because of the photo being a square, you can keep adding duplicates of the image to fit the size of your shirt or dress.

Photo Shoot #1

The three Photos below are pictures that I've taken of a tree. They focus on different features which were interesting for me to play around with. The first picture shows how the light is shun through the tree tops, I chose it because it gave me a warm feeling. In the second picture I focus on the mid section the tree. the cameras focus is on the moss and the higher you look up in the tree the more faded the picture gets. This effect added to the surrealism of the picture. I made the third picture black and white so that the seems and crevices in the bark stand out more to the viewer. It makes you pay attention to the texture of the tree rather than the colors.

For my second subject I chose to do sunsets, mainly because i enjoy watching them in the afternoons. I thought that if I took pictures of regular sunsets, I could enhance the pictures with modern day technology turning them into magnificent works of art. I chose to play around with colors for this subject. The first picture shows how i changed a regular blue shy into a solar themed sky. the light and dark purple made me think of space and the specs of white looked like stars, I was impressed with this picture. In the second picture , I went for more of a sunset that you would see in magazines and pictures. I played with the suns rays in the photo. In the third photo I wanted to create the illusion of a forest fire. I Tried making the sky look like red and orange flames.

My Summer 2014

Overall my summer was pretty fun. I visited my family, and went camping with my cousins. I moved into my new house and had a couple friends over. I took parkour and freerunning classes with a friend, we learned how to do different types of flips and spins and go up and over walls and obstacles. My summer ended with me breaking my phone with a recliner and having to get a new phone before school started.
